Description

The eastern tip of Riuttasaari is a good place for migration watching during the autumn, from mid-summer until the lake is covered by ice.

Location

The eastern tip of Riuttasaari can be reached along the path from Valmarinniemi's parking lot, the walking time is about 8 minutes. The car park can be found at Valmarinniementie 100, Valkeakoski.

Access

Riuttasaari is the outdoor area of the Valkeakoski town and is free to walk around.

Species

Waders and waterfowl are the main actors of the migration. Also loons, cormorants, gulls, terns and skuas arrive to watching sector well. The best observations among others are the Northern Gannet and couple of Pomarine Skuas.
